December in Lalbagh

On March 27, 2011, in Et'al, Natural Light, On Location, Strobist, by Niraj

It has been ages (3 months) I wrote on my blog and I am beginning to feel sick…

Things have piled up and there is a considerable backlog of shoots and pictures to clear… So here we go…

Last December I did a few shoots at Lalbagh along with Pradeep. The idea was to get a mix of everything – candids, street shots, landscapes and portraits. Lalbagh is probably the only place that offers all these.

I reached there at 6:45 am and Pradeep joined me 10 minutes later. We walked straight into the huge open lawn near the main gate parking as this was the place that held a lot of promise. The early morning winter cold, mist and trickling sunlight make an excellent combination. Add a human form to it and now we are talking… :) Heres my shot of Pradeep taking a shot.

An evening in Lalbag

On June 3, 2010, in Natural Light, by Niraj
This would be my first evening visit to Lalbag and it was Pranav’s first too. And it was splendidly rewarding. I was with Pranav, my wife and my MIL. We knew he loved wide open spaces but never imagined how excited he’d be when we let him ‘free’ on the huge lawn. He was super charged and there was no way Navnita and my MIL could match his energy.
Here they are looking at a passing airplane.

Same pics; different look…!

On May 31, 2010, in Et'al, Natural Light, by Niraj

Welcome back,
I sat down with some of the pics that I had posted here before and experimented with a different workflow/processing. A bit of Rarindra Prakasa effect.

First outing with EF 85 f1.8

On May 24, 2010, in Gear, Natural Light, by Niraj
Greetings,
I have quite a backlog to clear as far these blog posts are concerned. I have been photographying since 10 years now but my blog is only a month of so old. I’d go in a random manner.
I got my canon EF 85 f1.8 in nov’2009 and couldnt wait to try it out in the field. Here are some results…
I was in Lalbag early that morning. This father and son were playing cricket and I was watching them. The batsman hit the ball over this tree and it got stuck in the canopy. The boy, in an attempt to get it down, threw his ‘not so heavy’ bat at the place where the ball was stuck. But ironically, the bat joined the ball in the former’s ‘tree house’ :) . Now they were left to try multiple tricks to get them both down.. Gave me a great opportunity to capture these simple but wonderful moments.
